CHANGE TO R-BLUE DIALS ON VOLVO S60, S80, V70, XC70, XC90

Quick and easy way to enhance the feel of your Volvo with these R-blue dials. These are sold in a SET with all four dials.

To do this, you need these tools:

  • Torx 25 screwdriver
  • Demounting tools
  • Star screwdriver
  • 10mm spanner to loosen the battery terminal

In addition to this, it is a good idea to have compressed air to blow away dust in the meter housing before assembly and disposable gloves to reduce the risk of irritating fingerprints on the boards.

1. DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TERMINAL

For safety, remove the negative terminal of the battery before removing the meter housing. On these models, the battery is in the luggage.

2. LOWER AND PULL OUT THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE MAXIMUM

On the left side of the steering column you have a control to adjust the position of the steering wheel, loosen it and lower it and pull it towards you as far as it will go.

3. REMOVE THE FRAME FROM THE DAMASK

Under skyddet sitter det tre flärpar som du drar och rör fram och tillbaka för att lossa

4. Unscrew the meter housing

Unscrew the four torx 25 screws located in each corner of the meter housing.

5. FOLD FORWARD AND DISCONNECT THE CONNECTOR

Now you can fold forward and release the connector to the meter housing by pressing the latch and take out the entire meter housing.

6. RELEASE THE LATCHES HOLDING THE GLASS AND FRAME TO THE METER HOUSING

Use the demounting tools to press all the latches holding the meter housing together while holding pressure to split it, then remove the front of the meter housing.

7. REMOVE ANY CONTACT PIECE FOR LIGHTING.

Some models have lighting in the upper part, then detach the connector.

8. IMPORTANT: NOTE POSITION OF ALL NEEDLES BEFORE REMOVAL.

Take a picture or draw a reference point exactly where the needle is pointing before detaching them.

9. LOOSE ALL THE NEEDLES BY PULLING THEM STRAIGHT UP

Use the demounting tools to pry the pins straight up, being careful not to move them sideways.

Tip is to use a microfiber cloth to pry the demounting tools against.

10. LOOSEN THE SCREW HOLDING THE DAILS

Loosen the screws that hold the dails, they are held with two Phillips screws each.

11. REMOVE THE OLD DAILS.

Use the demounting tools to pry off the old dails. Both of the larger dails have a latch in the middle as well, so they are a little harder to remove.

12. INSTALL THE NEW DAILS.

Put the new dails in place and screw them in place with the screws.

13. REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE FILM

14. REFIT THE NEEDLES

Gently push the needles straight back down into the same position they were before.

15. CLEAN THE METER HOUSING AND REFIT THE FRONT PART

Use air to clean of dust and replace the front part by pushing it back into place.

16. REINSTALL THE METER HOUSING IN THE CAR

Reassemble the meter housing in the reverse order, insert the connector, screw it in place with the 4 torx screws and push the frame back.
