By using full-flow sound at enuators and thicker pipes, the back pressure in the system is lowered. A lower back pressure means that the gases flow more easily through the system and can therefore give higher power and lower fuel consumption. Especially in combination with other types of trimming, the systems give a significantly higher performance. Full-flow sound attenuators are designed so that exhaust gases flow through a perforated pipe straight through the sound  attenuators, which does not build more back pressure than a straight pipe in the same dimension. In some cases, this technique is combined with other methods to get the desired sound level and lower back pressure.

Full-flow sound attenuator produces a duller sound, what many would consider to be a desirable effect often associated with motorsport. A well-balanced sound level with sporty sound without disturbing sound levels in the cabin is our goal. When we measure the sound, we only raise the overall sound level by a few decibels, but by letting out the lower frequencies the outside noice will be perceived as higher. The majority of the Simons Sport exhaust system is approved according to the EU exhaust system directive. This means that the systems are designed and manufactured according to strict rules and controlled and approved by the authorities.
