The best Volvo colors ever made

In this post, we will show the top 10 best Volvo colors ever made (in our opinion).

The Volvo colors have always reflected a mix of understated elegance and sometimes bold expressions. While many of Volvo's cars come in traditional shades like silver, champagne and white, some colorful variants have lit up the roads on special occasions.

The Most Memorable Volvo Colors of All Time

10. Saffron (Paint code: 435)

Our first Volvo colour at number 10 is Saffron. Its a special golden - orange colour that you can’t mistake for anything else when you see it on the road.
In 1998, this was the "Special Colour of the Year", and was then only available on the S70R, V70R and C70 coupe and cab models. This unique colour is very desirable for some but it’s not to everyone's taste.

9. Bursting Blue (Paint code: 720)

Bursting Blue was introduced as a colour option by Volvo in 2016. It gained popularity as one of the signature colours for the Polestar performance models, such as the Volvo S60 Polestar and V60 Polestar. It later became an option for more models like the XC60 R and XC90 R.

8. Ocean Blue (Paint code: 458)

Next on our list is another blue - Ocean Blue. A colour Volvo used to promote their Ocean Race, a round the world yacht race which looks insanely difficult.
Since 2001 Volvo have been the owners or title sponsors of the event. To celebrate Volvo made three Ocean Race Edition models – XC90, V70 and XC70 and later the V60. All of them feature unique design elements, interior touches inspired by the sailing theme and of course the Ocean Blue colour.

7. Olive Green (Paint code: 421)

Next comes Volvo's Olive Green colour, sometimes called T-green. Unlike some of the bold colours in our list, Olive Green is less distinctive and is popular due to its rarity. The rarest of all T-5Rs are Olive green sedan models of which only 329 were produced along with 1582 wagons. This colour was not available in Sweden.
The first of these cars was reportedly built as a concept car to show what a T-green would look like. It was built like a T-5R but had the interior of an 850 Turbo. That car remained in Sweden but is now unfortunately scrapped.

6. Rebel Blue (Paint code: 619)

Rebel Blue was introduced by Volvo as a paint colour for their performance-oriented Polestar models in 2013. Before it became an electric car brand, Polestar was Volvo's performance division, and Rebel Blue was often associated with Polestar models, such as the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar editions.

5. T-Red (Paint code: 609)

Back in 1996 performance Volvos looked a bit different when they launched the 850R. It was available in Bright Red, Black Stone, Dark Grey Pearl, Dark Olive Pearl, Turquoise Pearl and Polar White (or just say 6 colours including red) in either saloon or wagon editions. The red became commonly known as the T-Red in reference to the earlier 850 T-5R T-gul which comes up later in our list.

4. Lazer blue (Paint code: 441)

Number 4 on our list is Laser Blue. This colour was an option only on the V70R of the 99 and 00 model years. The S80 was also made in a limited edition of 500 examples, and all in that edition were painted Laser Blue and sold as “S80 Limited edition”. This makes it one of the more rare colours but perhaps not quite as iconic as some of the next colours in our list.

3. Flashgreen (Paint code: 457)

Volvo always launched it’s performance focused R models in extreme body colours. In 2002 the S60 R and Volvo V70 R launched in Flashgreen and Titanium Grey. The Flash Green version is as popular for its exterior paint colour as it’s bold atacama ‘orange’ interior, named after the orange sands of the Atacama desert.

2. T-Yellow (Paint code: 421)

The 850 T-5R, initially known as T-Gul, was produced in 1994 as a limited production with only around 2,537 produced which sold out in just 4 months. At the time it was Volvo's fastest, most powerful, and most expensive car ever made and it proved more popular than Volo anticipated. The colour was developed by Ingvar Malander who was responsible for the development of new colours in Volvo's design department

This model was also available in black or Olive Green but the T-Gul is the most popular

1. Platinum Pearl Metallic (Paint code: 424)

Our number 1 Volvo colour ever is the Platinum Pearl Metallic!
This colour was only available on the special edition Volvo 850, which had a lot in common with the T5-R models. Volvo made 1000 sedans and only around 400 wagons in this colour and they were all sold in the USA in 1996. So they are incredibly rare to find and highly prized by their owners.
